Afghanistan (2003-2004)
Consultancy on development of sector wide
approach to Danish government assistance to primary education
in Afghanistan.
Advanced Diploma in Education - Mother
Tongue/Literacy and Educational Studies
Eritrea
(2001-2003)(2003
- 2005)
Design and implementation of two 'advanced diploma in
education' study programmes requested by Ministry of Education, Eritrea.
The diploma programme aims to support staff development for promoting
Eritrea's policy on the use of the mother tongue as the
language of
instruction in primary school.
Eritrea provides instruction in 8 of 9 national languages.
European Schools Project (1987- )
European Schools Project (ESP) composes a network from
primary and secondary schools to universities in Europe and
- To establish collaborative projects via Internet
- To develop new educational material for use in the
collaboration.
- To strengthen the international dimension in education.
A network of coordinators in the different countries assists
and supports the teachers in many different ways in their
work
of
implementing the international collaboration in
their teaching.
1987 Four Danish and four English schools established a
collaboration via data net in the project ’Schools in
Network’ a
research
programme under ‘INFA’ at the Royal
Danish School of Educational Studies, Denmark.1988 – 89
Schools in Iceland,
Canada and
USA join the collaboration.
1989 – A closer cooperation is launched with the European
Schools Project, a research project at the University of
Amsterdam.
1995 – More than 30
countries in Europe and beyond take part in the project.
2003 – European
Schools Project – DK is placed at CICED,
Professionshøjskolen København, University College
Teacher education - curriculum reform Eritrea
(2001- 2005)
Institutional and professional collaboration
with the Asmara Teacher Training Institute to develop new
teacher education
curriculum for primary teachers and to
support staff development of teacher trainers.
Procurement of textbooks.
Rural School Development Project Mongolia
(2000- 2004)
Technical cooperation for improving learning
environment at 40 rural schools, training of teachers and
principals, training-of-
trainers, school-community
collaboration and training of school board members, supply of
equipment and materials.

(2001-2003)
Consultancies to assist the development and design of
secondary education sector support programme.

Coordination of Institutional Linkage Programme
(1997-2003)
Danida and the Nepalese MOE aimed to organise technical
assistance for Basic and Primary Education Programme I& II
under the framework of 'institutional linkages'. CICED was
engaged to assist and coordinate the efforts to establish
institutional
linkages.
Teacher training - special education, Kuwait
(2004-2004)
A three week teacher training course in special education for
special school teachers from Kuwait. Special focus on theories
and
hands-on experience working with children with visual impairmaent, autism and Down's syndrom.
Teacher education - strategy for capacity
building (2003-2004)
Consultancy for drafting a strategy for institutional and
professional capacity building in teacher education in Nepal.
A strategy
aiming at training of a critical mass of teacher
trainers.
Education Sector Programme Development, Bolivia
(2003-2003)
Consultancies to prepare Danish sector programme support to
primary education in Bolivia.
Review of Alternative Basic Education Project,
Ethiopia (2003-2003)
CICED undertook a review of the Alternative Basic Education
Project in the Amhara Region, Ethiopia run by Save the
Children,
Denmark. The review mainly focussed on identifying
feasible strategies to ensure the sustainability of the
project.
Joint evaluation of Basic and Primary Education
(2003-2003)
Danida's Evaluation Section initiated a joint donor-government
evaluation of the Basic and Primary Education Programme in
Nepal. CICED was engaged to draft the terms of reference for
the evaluation and to prepare for the international tender on
the
project.
Training of Pedagogical Resource Centre
Co-ordinators (2002-2005)
The Danida support to education in Eritrea includes
establishment of a number of Pedagogical Resource Centres
serving
elementary schools in all parts of Eritrea. A number
of centres have been constructed and CICED is providing
training of the
prospective co-ordinators.
Reform of teacher education, Mongolia
(2002-2004)
Academic and technical support to reform of teacher education
curriculum at the Mongolian State Pedagogical University.
Collaboration for Teacher Education Development
(2002-2005)
Danida is conducting a three year pilot-project in Tibet
Autonomous Republic (TAR) in China. CICED is engaged in
institutional
collaboration for development of teacher
education at Lhasa Teacher Training School. The CICED
activities involves organising
workshops and seminars
introducing and discussing international trends and
experiences in teacher education and related topics.
PROMISE: the Project Method in School Projects
through E-learning (2001-2004)
The objectives of the PROMISE project are to offer a structured
and tested method, make it more widely used and at the same
time combine different uses of the Internet to support the
professional development (E-learning) of teachers and the
learning outcome
of their students. Technology will be
implemented and used according to didactic considerations and
PROMISE will make
downloadable resources from the European
School Net. The project will demonstrate how on-line courses
and mixed approaches

ECOLE: The European Collaborative Learning
Network (2001-2004)
The overall objective of the European COllaborative LEarning
network (ECOLE) activities is to make available content for
collaborative learning projects, in combination with making
available content for teacher education, and the creation of
a
learning community of teachers and pupils within compulsory
education. The contents plus the E-learning activities provide a full
context for education, rather than either focussing on
the relevance on ICT, without any specific content, or on a
thematic area.
Inclusive education, Nepal (2000-2004)
CICED provides technical assistance for the
development of special needs education/inclusive education
under Danida support to
Basic and Primary Education Programme
II, Nepal. The assistance includes training workshops and
seminars, development of
teaching materials and conduct of
research for further improvement of inclusive education.

Coordination of Masters and PhD programmes,
Nepal (1998-2003)
Under Danida assistance to Basic and Primary Education
Programme I & II in Nepal two cohorts of MPhil students and
one
group of PhD students were enrolled at the Danish
University of Education. CICED was in charge of the planning,
design and
coordination of these study programmes. CICED was
also responsible for the establishment and running of a Study
and Resource
Centre in Kathmandu to support the Nepalese
students. Further CICED took care of all books and equipment
supplies.
TRANSPRO: Transnational Educational Projects
using the Project Method and ICT in In-service Training
(1998-2002)
The project aims to create transnational and cross-curricular
projects between schools/teachers/pupils using the project
method.
Implementation of ICT as an educational tool in
transnational projects. Basic ODL courses on the educational
use of the Internet.
Link local and regional authorities to
institutions of higher education in different countries to
exchange knowledge in the field of
education.
